From sketchbook to shirt

Ink first, then the shirt

Every design begins in an analog sketchbook with ink and pen. I rough out the figure in quick gestures, then tighten the line until the motion reads on paper.

The rough sketch comes first, with quick gestures that catch a pose before it moves. Next I trace the final linework with a fine pen, keeping each line clean enough to hold up at print size.

Once the drawing is finished, it moves to screen print. The same hand-drawn line that sat on paper becomes a shirt, so the artwork and the garment share one source.
